Founding Director, Andy Cook has over 20 years’ experience of working in Employee and Industrial Relations, both in the UK and Internationally. He worked as a full-time union officer in the 90’s before then embarking on a career in HR; holding senior HR positions in large, complex and challenging organisations. All roles involved a large amount of Employee and Industrial Relations.

In 2006 he set up his own firm, Marshall-James where he has built a team who work with organisations on all aspects of Industrial and Employee Relations. He founded the Employee Relations Institute in 2012 which included many of the UK’s largest Employers, Unions and Employers Groups.

Andy alongside Managing Director Arran Heal and their team, work with a diverse mix of organisations, including many of the best-known Employer brands, across all sectors. Many HR and Business Leaders turn to Marshall-James for support, guidance and advice in all things relating to practical Employee Relations, Unions and Employee Engagement.

Marshall-James works internationally, including with international labour organisations, global unions and multinationals, and has headed up work on Freedom of Association in global supply chains. We have delivered workshops to many hundreds of line managers, HR Professionals and Employee Representatives. Our style is always to encourage participation, in an interactive manner and is based on many years of practical experience.

Arran joined Marshall-James in 2019, as part of a merger with UK leaders in conflict management, CMP. Arran brings over 3 years’ experience directing CMP, and a previous background as Marketing Director in the corporate Drinks Industry. Also a qualified business coach, Arran is passionate that personal development and professional growth comes from harnessing the differences between us all. His background enables a focus on the strategic needs of Marshall-James’ clients, and strives to build the UK’s leading Employee Relations service provider.

Rebecca took over as Director of Operations in 2019, holding over 12 years’ experience in workplace conflict management. Rebecca holds an MPhil in Criminology and a MSc in Forensic Science, providing her with both qualitative and quantitative methodological research experience to draw upon and provide our clients with Return on Investment data. Rebecca oversees the smooth delivery of all our services: Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, Investigations and Training.
