Andy Cook has over 20 years’ experience of working in Employee and Industrial Relations, both in the UK and Internationally. He worked as a full-time union officer in the 90’s before then embarking on a career in HR; holding senior HR positions in large, complex and challenging organisations. All roles involved a large amount of Employee and Industrial Relations.
In 2006 he set up his own firm, Marshall-James where he has built a team who work with organisations on all aspects of Industrial and Employee Relations. He founded the Employee Relations Institute in 2012 which included many of the UK’s largest Employers, Unions and Employers Groups.
Andy and his team work with a diverse mix of organisations, including many of the best known Employer brands, across all sectors. Many HR and Business Leaders turn to Marshall-James for support, guidance and advice in all things relating to practical Employee Relations, Unions and Employee Engagement.
Andy works internationally, including with international labour organisations, global unions and multinationals, and has headed up work on Freedom of Association in global supply chains. He has delivered workshops to many hundreds of line managers, HR Professionals and Employee Representatives. His style is always to encourage participation, is very interactive and is based on many years of practical experience.
Chris Thomas – Head of Operations
Chris is an experienced HR Professional, having held several HR Director positions in financial services. He has also held senior operations roles. Chris manages our team of investigators and is responsible for their onboarding, workload and resource planning for Marshall-James. He first worked for Marshall-James in 2012.
Dave Goldsmith – Head of Account Management
Dave has a strong background in HR in both the public and private sectors. He has conducted many investigations for Marshall-James over many years and is now responsible for the management of the relationship with our clients. Dave first worked for Marshall-James in 2013.
Fiona Irvine – Associate Director, Resourcing
Fiona is an experienced HR Practitioner and has worked as a HR Director in the Rail and Financial Services Sectors. Fiona is responsible for identifying and recruiting all Marshall-James people, focusing on our team of self employed and employed investigators. Our team is constantly growing.
Kirstie Sivalapan – Head of Learning
Kirstie leads the learning and training arm and turns her hand to business development. Kirstie has a background in HR and has also set up and run her own social enterprise. She has returned to one of her passions which is learning and development and is integral to the development of the Marshall-James range of workshops.
